Myofascial release is a type of therapy that focuses on releasing tension in the fascia, which is the connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs. It can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion.
During myofacial release therapy the doctor will spend time feeling your myofascial tissue for areas that are particularly stiff and tight. These are the places that cause you to feel pain, even if it's radiating to other areas. Using their hands, or a roller, the doctor will try to break up some of the tightness in and around the tissue.
