Activator

The chiropractic activator technique is a method used by chiropractors as an alternative approach to manual spinal adjustments. It involves the use of a small handheld instrument known as the "activator." This instrument is designed to deliver a controlled, low-force impulse to specific points on the patient's body, typically the spine, in order to address joint dysfunction or misalignment.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Assessment: Our staff first conducts a thorough assessment of the patient's spine and musculoskeletal system to identify areas of neurological dysfunction or misalignment. This involves specific movements that isolate a particular vertebra in the patient's spine.
  2. Activator Adjustment: When an area requiring adjustment is identified, We'll use the activator instrument to deliver a quick, low-impact thrust to the targeted joint or vertebra. The activator produces a light, yet precise force that is intended to stimulate the joint or vertebra into proper alignment.
  3. Reassessment: After the adjustment, We'll reevaluate the patient's condition to ensure that the adjustment was successful and that the patient's range of motion has improved.

BENEFITS

  1. Gentle Approach: The activator technique is considered less forceful and less jarring than traditional manual spinal adjustments. This makes it a preferred option for individuals who may be uncomfortable with the popping or cracking sounds associated with manual adjustments, or for those who may not be able to tolerate the force necessary to adjust manually.
  2. Precision: The activator instrument allows for very precise adjustments, which can be helpful for targeting specific problem areas.
  3. Consistency: Chiropractors can reproduce the same level of force and precision with the activator for each adjustment, which can help maintain consistency in treatment.
  4. Reduced Muscle Tension: Some patients find that the activator technique is associated with less muscle tension and discomfort following an adjustment compared to manual methods.
  5. Effective: Thorough and targeted method that provides quick and virtually painless relief.  Corrects spinal dysfunction and increases strength and flexibility.
